Applying and transferring.
How do we begin?
Call the school office at (202) 269-3186. Share the current grade and intended entry year, then request the current application checklist and timeline.
Is there an application deadline or testing requirement?
The office confirms current requirements and dates directly. The proposed events in the public calendar are not admissions deadlines.
Can a student transfer into an upper grade?
Ask about openings and an individual review of prior coursework. Placement, remaining graduation requirements, ATLAS, and community experience should be discussed together.
Can we visit before deciding?
Contact the office to arrange a visit and confirm the details. The visit guide offers practical preparation and questions.

A CLOSER LOOK
Questions are part of the process
Families arrive with different starting points. Some are selecting a first high school; others are considering a transfer, a different academic setting, or a more manageable financial plan. Use these answers to identify what applies to your situation, then bring any unresolved questions to the school.
For a precise answer, include the student’s intended entry grade and the school year under consideration. Current space, required documents, visit arrangements, and individual academic placement need direct confirmation. Keep notes from your conversation so that everyone in the family understands the same next steps.
