Alumni Connections

The conversation can continue after graduation.

Share where life has taken you.

A meaningful update does not need a job title or a major announcement. Former students can share what they are studying, working on, making, or learning. A change of direction can be as useful to hear about as a milestone.

To reconnect, call the school office at (202) 269-3186 and ask how to provide your current contact information. Ask which member of staff can best help with your update, records question, or idea for reconnecting.

Tell the part of the story students can use.

Current students benefit from specific experiences: how you chose among several options, what surprised you in a first job, or what you wish you had asked before starting college. Explain the circumstances around a decision rather than presenting your path as a formula everyone should follow.

A practical lesson

Describe a challenge and the steps you took to address it. Include what you would approach differently now.

An honest transition

Talk about adjusting to new expectations, seeking help, or changing an early plan.

A question to pass on

Offer a question that helped you make a decision and explain why it mattered in your circumstances.

Explore a useful connection.

Possible contributions to discuss with the school include a conversation about a field of work, feedback on a student’s career question, or information about an outside opportunity. Discuss your idea with staff so that a possible connection can be considered in light of students’ needs and the school’s schedule.

Before offering an opportunity, be clear about the organization involved, the actual responsibilities, time requirements, costs, and appropriate supervision. School staff should confirm any arrangement involving current students. Do not assume that contacting a student directly is the right first step.

Keep updates accurate and personal information private.

When sharing news, distinguish your own work from the work of a wider team. Include the details you are comfortable having reviewed and say whether the update may be considered for public use. Sharing information with the office does not itself mean agreeing to publication.

For transcript or school-record questions, ask the office for the current request process and allow time for the school to explain any required steps. For a possible visit, arrange it in advance. Thoughtful coordination helps a return to school feel welcoming while respecting the current school day.

Keep exploring.

A CLOSER LOOK

Carry the connection forward

Alumni experiences can help current students understand the range of paths beyond high school. A conversation about choosing a program, adjusting to college, beginning work, or changing direction can be useful when it includes both practical details and honest reflection.

If you would like to reconnect or discuss a possible contribution, contact the school with your graduation year and the topic you have in mind. Any visit, mentoring arrangement, or student-facing activity needs coordination through the school. This page does not imply an existing formal alumni network or scheduled reunion program.
